Young Explorer Newsletter 1st Nov 2025

Dear Parents,

1. The next Young Explorer Meeting will be on the 8th November at the normal time 3.00pm to 5.30pm at the Moutayiaka scout hut. Those Camping will stay and finish on Sunday at 11.30am.

2. On Saturday 8th Nov there will be a Parents Meeting at the Moutayiaka Scout hut. The meeting is open to all Parents of 53rd members. This meeting will be from 5.45pm - 6.30pm. The main items on the Agenda is the Final approval of last year’s accounts, organisation for the Christmas Dinner Dance and fund-raising activities at Christmas.

3. This year’s sponsored Walkdown on Saturday 28th Feb and is open to Parents, Friends of the 53rd, Leaders and Explorers over 16. Those wishing to take part must let us know in the next two weeks so that Sponsor Forms can be handed out. There will be training Hikes, the first will be on the 30th Nov. The Walkdown Hike will start at Troodos Square on the Saturday 28th Feb. We will leave the Scout Hut at 5am by Car and head for the Square where we will start at 6.00am. The total distance of the hike will be 42Km and will finish at Yermasoyia Dam around 5pm. Those interested please contact Skip.

4. Parents who have not received an email from the Cyprus Scouts Association with the link to pay this year’s Enrolment fee please send Richard Vlamis a personal message saying so and also confirm your email address so we can reset the system and get you on the list that will come out next. Also check your spam or trash folders, as some parents have found the link in there.

5. We remind Parents that the 53rd has recycle bins for batteries at the Scout Huts in Moutayiaka and Yermasoyia. Last Year 65Kg of batteries were collected from our two recycle bins and handed in to AFIS.

6. Please note that there is a car park for the Moutayiaka Scout hut a little further up the road. Please use this car park and do not stop or park on the road outside the scout hut. This area must be kept free at all times.
